In the Internet environment, as the number of Web service increase exponentially, the most important issue that must be addressed at present has been replaced by how to ensure that SOA-based applications are always composed of high quality services. It is quality of service that reflects non-functional requirements of service, so non-functional qualities will become the only standard of customer choice when a large number of services can achieve the same functionality.Traditional measurement models can't be applied to the field of service-oriented architecture. This dissertation mainly deals with the study of characteristics of service metrics in SOA-based applications. Then based on survey, this dissertation analyzed four aspects of service coupling, composition of service reusability and sub-property of service composability, studied flexibility, scalability, agility and interoperability of service, and presented a set of measurement models of characteristics of service based on SOA, which combined with features of Web service.The service coupling measurement model measures and analyzes service coupling from the aspect of dependency relationships that service has. This model not only considers coupling of service itself, but also merges with other metrics such as coupling between services, service required coupling of composite service, solution coupling and so on, which reflects the essence of coupling. It can measure service coupling comprehensively and predict the dependence of service and scope of influence after service changes.The service reusability measurement model can measure reusability of atomic service. This model distinguishes business commonality from function commonality, considers the influence of service modularity to service reusability, and service modularity metric is defined. Moreover, service reusability metric is given through combing service business commonality metric and service modularity metric.Measurement and analysis of service composability measurement model is based on atomic service, composite service and relationship among atomic services. Service granularity is redefined by combing the feature of Web service, i.e. the phase is the service executing phase exactly, in which composite services are made up using existing services. And service parameter granularity is differentiated from service granularity, service interoperability metric is defined in the model.This dissertation designed a prototype system according to service coupling measurement model, service reusability measurement model and service composability measurement model, which has been proved effectively through experiment. Experimental data reflected that the solution of this dissertation can measure service coupling, reusability and composability effectively.
