Research On The Visualization Methods Of Functional Models' Innovative Reasoning Process

Functional models'innovative reasoning is a key phase in innovative conceptual design. In the process of innovative reasoning, the logic reasoning and human being's innovative thinking should be tightly combined. But some problems exist in the current computer aided conceptual design, such as the designer is hardly join in the reasoning process and the advantage of computer aids is not noticeable. Aiming at the problems, using visualization methods to support the process of functional models'innovative reasoning is proposed in this dissertation. By providing understandable and perceptible visualization means and rich human-machine interaction interface, designers can be inspired easily and can apply their innovative thinking into the reasoning process which contribute to build a more interactive, effective and innovative conceptual design. As a result, visualization aided innovative reasoning process is researched in this dissertation.The main contents are as follows:(1) Research on functional modelsExtension functional model is put forward based on extension theory. A summary from model representation to model built method of and-or-not function-tree and extension functional model is made. Then a contrast analysis about these two functional models is given to help designers choose a suitable functional model according to requirements.(2) Research on the visualization aided innovative reasoning processThe function-model format language (FFL) is defined, and FFL model is set up by describing functional model with FFL. Then, a mapping from FFL model to visualization model is built. By providing understandable and perceptible visualization views and human-machine interaction interface which meet the demand of innovative reasoning, designers can be inspired and then apply their innovative thinking into the reasoning process. In this way, the possibility of obtain innovative design solutions is highly increased.(3) Implement of the prototype system of visualization aided innovative reasoningOn base of the proposed theoretical framework, relying on related scientific research projects, combined with the business needs on product innovation, a visualization aided innovative reasoning system is developed which includes several modules such as function modeling, innovative reasoning, human-computer interaction and database access. It has been applied in the innovative design on underground boring machine which testify the effectivity and practicality of the proposed method in this dissertation.
