The data acquisition system is widely used in the construction of social production as an important tool for noise and vibration measurement. With the development of embedded technology, the portable data acquisition system becomes the main development direction of the data acquisition system. Compared with other data acquisition systems, it has many advantages, such as small size, low power consumption and easy to carry. According to the application characteristics of the instrument in the field of noise and vibration measurement, a portable data acquisition system's overall structure is presented in this paper and the development process of digital circuits section of the system is highlighted.The characteristics of each CPU are fully utilized by this portable data acquisition system which includes ARM9, DSP and CPLD, in order to maximize the function and performance of the data acquisition system. The high-speed transmission of large amounts data and command interaction between ARM9 and DSP are achieved in this system by using HPI interface. The system including SD card port, network port, serial port and USB port can easy communicate with the outside system. To achieve the management and scheduling functions of multi-task, which create a condition on which the data acquisition system has diverse and complex functions, the system is equipped with Linux operating system.In this paper, some hardware design principles of the portable data acquisition system are described and the corresponding circuit schematics are provided, then the software development process based on Linux operating system is illustrated, which includes BootLoader, device drivers and application program development, finally, the test and commissioning of digital circuits section of the data acquisition system are introduced.
