In recent years, Video monitoring system is widely used in the production and living quarters. People usually know the information of monitoring objects by video monitoring system without arrived at the scene, and it make to target states judgment and control come true by add the treatment and control part.The design to video surveillance and tracking system based on FPGA as the theme for research. Video collection, cache and the function of Image processing are integrated into a small size equipments. Compared by the traditional to ARM as the core of the embedded design, it can reduced design cost, more flexibility to design changes and improve the processing speed because of FPGA has higher parallel processing ability. This design will do the focus on image sensor control, design of image cache and image processing software code compiling. First, write its control code with Verilog according to the image sensor design descriptions, so it can complete image collection. Then, design multi-port SDRAM controller to frame image cache, the one port is output show, the other is output to NiosII system. Last, create the SOPC platform of image processing using the SOPC characteristic, which is design flexible, function can cut, hardware and software programmable and good integration. Avalon bus receiving multi-port SDRAM controller sent the frame image. Write the code tracking algorithm with C in NiosⅡIDE environment.This article from video monitoring system and image processing technology development history to speak about. The scheme design, chip selection, code design aspects of detailed video monitoring tracking system introduced the design process. This design takes CycloneⅡEP2C70 FPGA which is the production of Altera. Realizing function can be divided into two parts based on FPGA, the one is SOPC system that complete image processing algorithm, the other is complete image acquisition, image cache and image VGA display control. The image VGA display control contains five statures function modules:MT9P001 initialization module, Image acquisition module, image conversion module,VGA interface control module and multi-port SDRAM controller module. Introduces the working principle of modules and Give out the simulative waveform. Image acquisition module, image conversion module and image VGA display control module are all adopt pure hardware method, reducing the burden of the treatment of soft processors greatly, that make the system has the high real-time and reliability.
