Portable Personal Health Record (PPHR) is a brand new medical information service system, which is distinguished from most of the existing health information systems. Centering on individual residents and meeting their daily health needs, leveraging personal computers and mobile devices as data storage and supported by health information system (HIS), it will provide electronic health records to all the residents as an alternative of paper records. The records can also be shared by all kinds of medical related organizations, including hospitals, community health centers, insurance companies, medical institutions, disease control centers, physical examination institutions and health authorities. PPHR facilitates self-recording of all kinds of individual health data, based on which doctors and health authorities can make professional suggestions. Users of PPHR will visit their own health records via computer or mobile phone. Supporting querying, recording, storing, uploading and downloading of residents health information, PPHR will ultimately become a system which will involve health insurance, medical services, health authority, patients and their families and.Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol and digital signature technology are applied in the system to exchange parts of private data. It also uses multi-level network data encryption technology for secure transmission. Real time query of thirty-party visiting of a user’s personal health records is supported. All the activities in the system will be encrypted. Due to rigorous design of activity permissions and user-specific privacy authorization mechanism, no one can query or modify users’ data before authorization. A strict test has been committed to ensure real time, reliability, usability, maintenance and portability of the system and compliance, consistency, precision and real time of its data management. The system also supports cluster environment and can handle tens of millions of data traffic. It provides good caching mechanism to reduce data access pressure. The data response time is under milliseconds and the system can support million-level concurrent visits.
