Software radio technology has been popular in research and development of the communication industry. In order to make communication signals with different patterns and transmission speed rates interconnect and intercommunicate, we need to solve the identification problem of communication signal modulation mode. The basic duty of communication signal modulation mode identification is to confirm the modulation method to receive signal and other signal parameter which will provide foundation for analyzing and dealing with signal further. The identification of communication signal modulation mode is used widely in practice. It is mainly used in supervision, digital confrontation; threaten analysis and others in military field. As for civil use, it is mainly used in identification of signal, interference identification, supervision, frequency spectrogram management and others.Based on software signal idea, the identification system of analogue modulation mode using FPGA is researched in this paper. Firstly, it introduces the theory about identification of communication signal modulation mode and present main identification methods. It mainly discusses identification method of decision theory. Secondly, the paper uses Matlab to simulate and testify identification method of decision theory. It summarizes the flow chart of analogue modulation mode identification and explain the work theory of pre-manage module, parameter collection, select module and classified identification module in analogue modulation mode identification system.The hardware realization of analogue modulation mode identification system used Verilog HDL language to finish programming job of each module in the ISE9.2i integrated development environment and using Modelsim to simulate and testify the correctness of system design. The last phase is to download the program file of analogue modulation mode identification system to XC2VP30 chip, connect development panel and SM4205 electron tube with common cathode and AD558 math model transition chip, run the program, display the adjusted signal waveform which needs identification and the final identification result. It further testifies the correctness of the design of analogue modulation mode identification system.
