In recent years, people's daily life and work are more and more inseparable from mobile communications and wireless networks.With the steady development of society and the rapid progress of science technology. Similarly, in the military field, especially in the military exercises field where battlefield conditions rapidly change, rapid erection of the communications infrastructure is very difficult, whether it is real-time communications and real-time transmission are the key to real-time grasp battlefield information and defeat the enemy. This paper which is based on the actual military training exercises, which is to focus on exercise communications requirements "connection in moving, conversation in the connection", which is to focus on technology based ad hoc exercise simulation system, completed the following tasks:(1) This paper studies the characteristics of ad hoc networks, network structure and some applications of military simulation, Ad hoc network is a self-creation, self-organizing and self-management which is a wireless network, it does not depend on the infrastructure, and takes distributed management, and has a very important role for real-time communication of the combat unit in the exercise environment.(2) This paper presents a clustering strategy based the group movement and the routing algorithm. As constraints of the principles and military tasks, the node with the same movement task often show "group move, same direction" feature, showing transmission of information verticality flow, it can be clustered and routed according to the formation and. the task.(3) This paper realizes a good interactive interface of the Ad hoc network simulation system which is easily to expand and control, and is an open structure. It designs and realizes exercise simulation system software, which simulates battlefield command communication process in a local area network within in the C# programming environment. The system verifies network performance in the variety of background conditions, providing a better simulation training simulation platform for the exercise.
