The pipe/filter style, as a typical data flow software architecture, is widely used in data processing application system such as experimental data handling, visual programming and integration of computing tasks. With the software architecture of pipe/filter style, based on SiPESC platform, this paper designs and implements a framework for data processing through object stream. It uses the technologies of object-oriented software engineering methods, and XML extensible markup language for its implementation.Through abstracting the common components of the pipe/filter style architecture, the framework builds an extensible interface for data objects and its filters. It provides the reference implementation, and a group of common tools. The framework can be used to customize the flow of data processing and achieve the data concurrent processing with the configuration file written by XML language. It provides a basic framework for the development of application system based on the architecture of pipe/filter style, reduces the complexity of application development and also improves the efficiency.The paper presents the design philosophy, software framework and the key point of implementation. Through the specific application of the flow analysis for the finite element analysis, it demonstrates the feasibility, usability, reusability and expandability of the framework.
