With the development of technology, mine safety monitoring system is an important measure for high yield, high efficiency, high security. The reliability of mine safety monitoring system has drawn increasing attention. The improvement of the reliability of mine safety monitoring system is benefit for the remote control of underground operations. It can reduce the probability of the accident and formulate emergency measures to reduce the loss of human and material resources.In this article, the reliability of mine safety monitoring system is analyzed from the perspective of communication. Firstly, the research status of mine safety monitoring system is discussed. Then the reliability concepts, reliability assessment methods and the factors that affect the reliability are introduced. Secondly, the structure of communication bus of mine safety monitoring system is analyzed. On this basis, its reliability is analyzed, and its reliability model is established. Finally, the communication network topologies of mine safety monitoring system are simulated.To research the reliability of communication network of mine safety monitoring system, the assessment methods which have been commonly used are firstly analyzed, such as SDP algorithm, hop plane nodes algorithm, EED-OBDD algorithm, EED-SDP. The analysis for EED-SDP algorithm must be detailed. This algorithm considers the communication network topology, and avoids the redundancy problem. At the same time, less memory for the calculation can be used. But it ignores the communication network capacity. So the improved EED-SDP algorithm is proposed, the improved algorithm considers the reliability of node and link to meet the demand. The steps of the improved algorithm are given. The improved evaluation algorithm is simulated. The simulation shows that the algorithm of mine safety monitoring system can meet the actual needs. The improved algorithm considers the survivability of communication network and invulnerable of mine safety monitoring system.To analyze communication system bus, the fieldbus is used to improve the reliability of mine safety monitoring system. Because fieldbus has high reliability and good real-time. This article analyzes the advantages of the CAN-bus technology for the mine safety monitoring system and the commonly used communication system bus structure. It can be seen that CAN nodes are an important part of CAN bus. To evaluate the reliability of CAN nodes, the fault tree model of CAN nodes is established. And several effective measures for improving the reliability of communication systems are proposed.To simulate communication network topology, the network topology used in mine is simulated. The simulation algorithm uses improved EED-SDP evaluation algorithm and hop plane nodes algorithm. The practical feasibility of the improved evaluation algorithm is verified by the simulation, and this algorithm has high accuracy in reliability evaluation of the tree network topology and star network topology.
