The third generation mobile communication system is developing rapidly.Core network provides packet switching services are beyond the traditional circuit switched services.lt calls higher demands on data transmission and capacity of 3G. 3G systems provide great coverage, complete subscriber management and nearly universal roaming, while WLAN can provide hot spot coverage with high data rates. The integration of WLAN and 3G is an attractive way to provide a convenient access to network. This paper explored the mechanism of access authentication and key agreement in the 3G-WLAN network and then proposed a robust authentication protocol with non-repudiation service. First, we started from the wireless local area network, introduced its access authentication mechanism and superiority analysis. Then, we recognized the 3G system, analyzed 3G network architecture and the AKA authentication protocol process based on UMTS. Next, we discussed the 3G-WLAN network integrating mode, and analyzed the integrated network EAP-AKA protocol mechanisms work process and disadvantages. Finally, based on EAP-AKA protocol, we proposed a robust localized fast reauthentication protocol with non-repudiation service for integrating WLAN and 3G network. Then countered the protocol with its analysis on its AKA process and security performance.
