Wireless sensor network (WSN) is deployed by a large number of low cost micro sensor nodes which are in the monitoring area and forms a multi-hop ad hoc network system through wireless communication. Its purpose is to sense, collect and process the perception of objects within the converge area of the network and send the information to the observer. WSN has broad application prospects and is one of the hotspots of network communication. With the extensive application of the wireless sensor network, location information of sensor nodes become more important, the sensor nodes must identify their location, and then they can explain what happened in which position or region.In this paper, we firstly introduce many localization algorithms of wireless sensor network which proposed and described the theoretical priciples of each localization algorithm. Second, we proposed the concentroic anchor beacon (CAB) localization algorithm which the anchor nodes have different power levels. The CAB algorithm uses the connection between power levels of beacon signal and transmission range to achieve node localization. This paper analyzed the principle of power configuration of anchor nodes, focusing on a depth study of the principles and basic idea of the combination of the anchor node localization algorithm and the power configuration. The valid intersection points satisfy the constraint regions of all anchor nodes, the final position estimation is taken as the average of all the valid intersection points. No information exchange between neighboring sensors is necessary, which reduces the energy requirement for localization, improves the energy efficiency of network and prolongs the life cycle. At last, we evaluated the performance of the CAB localization algorithm through simulation experiment and compared it with the range-free localization algorithms, the results of which showed that the CAB algorithm has higher accuracy.
