Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) consist of many self-organized sensornodes that are low cost and capable of sensing, computing and wirelesscommunication. The main function of WSN is that it can perceive externalenvironment in an intelligent way before providing these collected and processedinformation to users. Based on the technology of sensor, wireless communication, embedded computing and distributed information processing, WSN have beenwidely applied to geographical environment, health and medicine, military affairsand national defenses, etc. Node positioning technology is an importantsupporting technology of WSN, since usually it is useful only if nodes position isaccurate. Because of that, node positioning technology has great value inresearch and application. In this paper, the basic conception of WSN is introduced and the researchstatus and context of nodes positioning technology at present are analyzed. To geta general understand of nodes positioning technology of sensor feature, the paperbegins with the introduction of the basic theory, term and classical nodespositioning algorithm, and then follows the analysis of the basic principal, classification and standard of evaluation. In addition, the application of nodespositioning technology to wireless communication networks is mentioned. On thebasis of analysis and research of various positioning technology, in-depthinvestigation is performed to study the positioning method of anchor nodes. Theadvantage and weakness in application of swarm intelligence algorithm, whichincludes Ant colony algorithm and classical Monte Carlo method, is deepanalyzed. A combinative method of Ant Colony and Monte Carlo Location isproposed in this paper for the node location problems in the Wireless SensorNetwork (WSN). In this method the node localization is achieved throughlocation prediction of the nodes by adopting the distribution probability and the transition probability of the Ant Colony Algorithm nodes and the mobile mode ofthe anchor node. Moreover, the limitation of localization that needs three nodesat least is eliminated due to the introduction of Monte Carlo Algorithm. It give awidely develop space to the wireless sensor node localization. To compare the performance of the existent Mixture-MCL and the proposedAC-MCL positioning algorithm in quantity and movement speed of anchor nodes,Simulation experiments are implemented utilizing Matlab simulation tool.Simulation result shows that the positioning algorithm proposed in this paper isstill able to give accurate position when the number of anchor node is small butthe number of whole nodes is large, and the higher accuracy and low costindicates its bright future in application.
