With the constant expansion of power systems and wide use of many non-linear electronic devices, harmonic pollution of power systems becomes more and more serious, and harmonic is treatment is urgent. Hybrid Power Filter (HAPF) which consists of the passive filter and active filter can not only reduce investment costs of the harmonic compensation system but increase the ratio of performance and price in the system to achieve better harmonic suppression. So the study of HAPF is of important practical significance.Aiming at harmonic problems, after analyzing and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of various filters, parallel hybrid active power filter (HAPF) is adapted to compensate harmonic. At the same time the LC in HAPF is designed. Secondly, aiming at the delay problem produced by the traditional i_p-i_q algorithm, the paper proposes a new i_p -i_q algorithm which can compensate the delay by adding the compensating angle to traditional i_p-i_q algorithm. The two algorithms are simulated with MATLAB software and the results show the new algorithm which eliminates the delay and the new algorithm is of good compensation effect.Thirdly, after analyzing and comparing several Current Tracking Control method, the paper uses Hysteresis Comparison Control method. Finally, the filtering effects of putting only active power filter and parallel hybrid active power filter in the system are simulated with MATLAB respectively, and the results show that HAPF can better real time compensate the harmonic in distortion current of the power system to make current waveform of the whole system is basically sine wave and harmonic compensation effect is remarkable, and verify the parallel hybrid active power filter (HAPF) used in the paper is an effective and feasible compensation device.
