With the development of modern industrial technology, a large number of non-linear power electronic equipments are applied widely in power system, which causes too much harmonic pollution. At the same time the power quality and the safe operation become worse sharply. Hence, harmonics suppression is imperative under the situation. The both Active Power Filter (APF) and Passive Filter (PF) have disadvantages. But the Hybrid Active Power Filter (HAPF) composed of Passive Filter and Active Power Filter can have their advantages and eliminate their disadvantages. It possesses the characteristics low price of Passive Filter and good performance of Active Power Filter. So it is practical significance to research on the Hybrid Active Power Filter.First, according to object of three-phase Shunt Hybrid Active Power Filter (SHAPF), the dissertation introduced the related concept, production mechanism, researching significance of harmonics and the present researching situation of the hybrid active power filter, analyzed in detail the basic principles, compositions and classifications of passive filters and active power filter, compared the advantages and disadvantages for each kind of filter, and designed the passive filter part of the shunt hybrid active power filter.Second, the dissertation mainly analyzed i p ? iqharmonic detection method based on the instantaneous reactive power theory, and proposed a new method for harmonic current detection based on i p ? iq principle. The approach detects the arbitrary specified harmonic current, and uses compensatory angle to compensate delay time in the compensation process. The simulation results of two methods indicate that the new detection algorithm has better compensation effect, and realizes the real time compensation of the harmonics. The dissertation introduced several compensation current control methods, proposed an improved hysteresis current control method based on the traditional hysteresis control method. The approach can reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input current, thus achieve smaller harmonic content in the system.Finally, the components of the shunt hybrid active power filter system are modeled and simulated with MATLAB software. The simulation results show that the shunt hybrid active power filter can detect the harmonic current, and effectively compensate harmonic current for the power system waveforms with serious distortion, and the harmonic distortion rate is reduced. Theoretical analysis and simulation results verify that the study of the shunt hybrid active power filter is effective and feasible.The studies in the dissertation have some guidance in the field of the exploitation of the shunt hybrid active power filter experimental system.
