Information science education for master is the main way to cultivate high-level talents. Now the demand for the talents with information background is higher and higher. Information science education gets more and more social concern. Traditional information education ideas, mode and curriculum are hard to adapt to the demand of talents in modern information society. Certainly many information education workers are positive to give suggestions and ideas about the educative reform. Many countries have established the national education standards. In the information science field, the standards involve:QAA (Quality Assurance Agency in Higher education), CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professional),ALA (American Library Association) and IFLA(Guidelines for Library/Information Educational Programs-2000).At present, the information education workers mainly discuss about:domestic and overseas information education, regional education, education reviews, and perspective. The concrete contents involve:education system, education mode, the curriculum, teaching contents, and educational methods. But educational standards about information science research are few. Therefore the author wants to set up the unified education standards for information science, which need to reference education theory, standard theory, and also combine theory with our education present situation. That can promote the development of our master education of information science.The full text is divided into four parts:Chapter 1:Introduction. In this chapter, the author mainly points out the research background and the development of master education for information science at home and abroad. Also the author determines the research emphases and innovative points by the analysis of relevant research.Chapter 2:The frame structure of education standards.The author introduces the origin and role of the education standards, and the action of world education standards. Finally the author summarizes the structure of education standards.Chapter 3:The construction of master education standards for information science in our country. By the analysis of existing information education standards and the frame structure in the second Chapter, the author presents the standards suitable for our country. Chapter 4:Conclusion. The author induces the full-text research, finds the insufficiency and also puts forward the prospects for the future study.
