Nowadays, with the rapid development of network technologies, the wireless communication networks turn to be heterogenous. If these heterogenous networks could not be converged in the near future, there would be a lot of isolated information islands that could not communicate with each other. Therefore, the interoperation and integration of heterogenous networks is an important development trend for wireless communication system. Meanwhile, Personal Area Network is becoming an important aspect for converging networks, because it is flexibly composed by mobile terminals and could provide users with ubiquitous services. The integration of wireless Personal Area Network and Wide Area Network has two advantages:PAN, which consists of various smart equipments through short-range wireless communication technologies, could provide roaming and rich services with the help of WAN. On the other hand, WAN could provide abundant, personalized and context-aware services with the help of PAN. As a result, the integration allows users to enjoy much better service experience.Firstly, Based on sufficient research on IMS technology, this paper proposed a context-aware converging networks architecture that has extend functions of S-CSCF and MRF function entities in IMS networks. Then three key technologies in heterogenous converging networks are discussed in the paper. In heterogenous converging networks, it's difficult to choose the best terminals and best neworks to collaborate with each other. In the paper, Analytic Hierarchy Process and Entropy Theory are combined together as the decision making method. Entropy Theory could dynamically configure each element with different weights, which could more objective judgement. Practice shows that, the decision making method could match requirements of various types of services.SCTP protocol is intended to provide reliable data transmission, so it could not support bandwidth aggregation perfectly. In this paper an application-layer solution is proposed to improve both user-perceived bandwidth and overall wireless network utilization. An mobility management scheme is also discussed in this paper, which combines mobile IP and SIP protocols to support equipment mobility in both real-time and non-real-time services. Besides that, it also support smooth handover. At last a summary is given in the end, and it also points out the following research direction in the near future.
