With the rapid growth of IT industry, OTT service has gained great development and been widely accepted by users. Virtualization, openness and intelligence now become the future trend for optical access and aggregation network technology. In this trend, current optical access and aggregation network is faced with great challenges such as the conflict between the openness feature of IT and the closure feature of network,the lack of a unified and effective resource management approach, the no sufficient service customization capability and so on. To solve these problems and challenges, this paper mainly researches on the reconstruction and unified control mechanism of optical access and aggregation network. In detail, this paper launches research work around optical access and aggregation network architecture based on unified control, dynamic resource management approach and open network application. The outcomes are expressed as follows:Firstly, we propose software defined optical access and aggregation network (SDOAAN) architecture based on unified control concept. Based on SDOAAN, network control is decoupled from forwarding and optical access and aggregation devices can be configured and managed through standard southbound interfaces. In addition, open northbound interfaces can help implement service innovation and rapid deployment.Secondly, we propose a traffic-aware dynamic bandwidth management approach for SDOAAN. This approach is to enable automatic bandwidth adjustment and traffic engineering among multiple paths according to monitored aggregation traffic so as to improve bandwidth satisfaction level and resource utilization. Simulations show that resource utilization can increase up to 20% and bandwidth satisfaction level can increase up to 35%.Thirdly, current optical access network mainly adopts monthly/package in service delivery and lacks of fine management of bandwidth, limiting the service quality improvement and new business innovation. We propose a bandwidth customization application for users based on SDOAAN. This application can meet various service demands and help implement bandwidth provision on demand,so as to improve customers' experience,avoid redundant resource configuration and improve resource utilization. Simulations show that resource utilization increase up to 40% and bandwidth satisfaction level can increase up to 60%when our traffic-aware dynamic bandwidth management approach is used in combination with our bandwidth customization application.
