Distributed Service Network (DSN) is a new generation of distributed core network architecture that can be operated and managed for telecommunication services and Internet services. DSN based on P2P architecture has no centralized node and is composed by a large number of peer nodes. Compared with traditional centralized core network, DSN has to manage more nodes. Moreover, DSN usually allows nodes to join or to leave dynamically. In this case, network management becomes more complicated than ever. However, traditional telecommunication network management system utilizes the centralized architecture which could cause the single-point failure and single-point performance bottleneck. So the distributed network management is imperative. In this paper, the architecture of DSN is first researched and then the hierarchical model of network management system, which includes central management layer, domain management layer and managed layer, is proposed. The central management layer composed by two management control nodes is responsible for data aggregation and user access. Network administrators can manage the DSN using web browser by the introduction of Web technologies in the central management layer. The domain management layer consists of a number of management nodes, which are organized into a P2P network. Each management node is responsible for polling the managed device, reporting the data, ordering the request and so on. By using P2P technologies in the domain management layer, network management functions can be shared by the management nodes, and each managed device can access the service management node according to the condition of network. When some management nodes crash, the network management system can quickly adjust the topology automatically and has little effect on other parts. The agent monitors the managed devices in real-time on the managed layer. In such a hierarchical structure, on one hand the introduction of domain management can reduce network data transmission, eliminate bottlenecks and increase system reliability and scalability; on the other hand, network administrator can manage the system easier than ever, because the central management layer could manage all the domain nodes. Finally, a series of tests verify the completeness of the network management system designed and implemented in this paper and also prove that the introduction of P2P technologies can solve the problems of the massive nodes access, network congestion and failure of single point.
