Web Service is an important trend in the World Wide Web (WWW) as an industrial standard. Applying of Semantic Web technology into WebService gives birth to another new technology——Semantic WebService. Ontology, core technology of Semantic Web, can be used to describe the semantics of Web Service and make the service understandable by computers, so as to enable computers to discover, select, compose, negotiate and execute Web Service automatically.Discovery is the first step during the whole lifecycle of Semantic Web Service. Only finding the proper Web Service, can we do the selection, composition, negotiation, execution and monitor.This paper is focused on how to find out Semantic Web Service effectively in the distributed peer to peer network. Considering both the functional and non-functional requirements it can find out the Web Service that matchs the requirements of users the best.The traditional discovery method of Semantic Web Service is based on centralized registry, such as UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration). But it often leads to single point of failure and bottleneck. Thus, this paper proposed a discovery method of Semantic Web Service based on peer to peer network Chord. It can route to the right node according to the semantic category of the required web service. It goes on the extention query under the condition that having not found out enough web services that match the requirements of the users. According to the method, this paper implements a simple Semantic Web Service discovery system. This paper is separated into six chapters. Chapter one introduces the research background and main work accomplished during the paper writing process. In chapter two, a comprehensive idea of semantic web service, including the web service and semantic web technology, is profoundly discussed; also, peer to peer network is introduced in this chapter. In chapter three, Chord algorithm is introduced at first, and then a discovery method of semantic web service based on Chord is proposed. Chapter four explains the designation and implementation of the publishing and discovering of semantic web service in peer to peer network. In chapter five, based on the listed testing results, the performance of the system is estimated, including recall, precision and load balance. Finally, the gains and prospects I have been awarded of in the process of wrinting this paper are summarized in chapter six.
