In order to maintain competitiveness of 3G within the next decade, the Third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)organization passed the 3G long term evolution (LTE)scheme in the end of 2004. The fundamental targets for LTE are increased data rates, reduced latency, improved system capacity and coverage as well as reduced operator costs. Currently, LTE has been widespread concerned by all telecommunication operators, so the LTE technology research is of great significance.In this thesis, LTE decoding implementation using PicoChip platform is researched. LTE coding theory is studied first, including the circular redundancy checking, Turbo coding, convolutional coding and rating matching. This part is focused on the 3GPP protocol and deeper research. Some schemes are compared and selected.Owing to the fact that decoding is the reverse process of coding theory, implementation of decoding on the Picochip platform is studied next based on the theory above.Three modules of data channel are researched namely HARQ soft combined retransmission, Turbo coding de-rate matching and CRC. Each part is studied from function description and implementation scheme. Particularly, the author proposes a new implementation to achieve the Turbo code de-rate matching.Through hardware simulation, it is found that the new algorithm can greatly reduce the memory usage and system processing delay compared with the standard algorithm. CRC is designed to improve the speed of CRC calculation as well as the efficiency of transport block check to generate ACK/NACK.In the end, the performance of implementation scheme is verified from three aspects, including the decoding error rate and block error rate, occupancy of hardware resources and hardware system delay. Some analysis will be made here and the result shows that this decoding implementation scheme can make sure the good and stable performance both in hardware platform and in physical parameters index. It is a good way to meet the requirement of 3GPP LTE system.
