With the rapid development and perfection of computer simulation technology,the need of achieving more accurate simulation conclusion couldn't always be achieved by the traditional discrete event dynamic simulation modeling theory. The construction of new model which reflects the quay operation status more realistic and simulates the container quay logistics system more painstaking can provide more precise data support and optimization suggestion for quay planning and design.Some improvement of traditional container quay system simulation model are made by this paper by using cellular automata, and a wharf apron logistics flow two dimensional cellular automata model is established, by using a single container truck space as cellular unit. And it mainly focuses on the following aspects:1) The research of cellular automata theory simulation methods. It describes the composition and evolution rules of cellular automata, and their applicability to terminal quay traffic flow simulation. After making introduction and summarization of the cellular automata application result using on traffic system simulation technology, it introduces several indicative classical cellular automata modeling ideas for terminal quay system modeling.2) The structuring of wharf apron road traffic cellular automata simulation model. Based on the comparison to discrete event dynamic system, this paper analyses expected realization function of cellular automata model, then expounds several modeling ideas of it, such as the setting of container truck's running status, status changing rules, lane changing rules and a range of other modeling ideas.3) The structuring of wharf apron loading and unloading operation cellular automata simulation model. Some loading and unloading operation function that couldn't be realized in discrete event dynamic system could be realized by simulation after structuring the wharf apron road traffic cellular automata simulation model. By dividing the containers that waits to be loaded or unloaded on the container ship hatch to models which uses bay as loading unit, now it could be realized that loading point moves with the changing of loading status. 4) The bunch type and open type are two different kind of container wharf apron layout. By making cellular automata simulation and modeling for two kind of different container quay design proposals and making data analysis of the related wharf apron traffic, we can finally prove the positive effect to wharf modeling and simulation of the automata cellular model.From the study of this thesis above, a new type of container terminal simulation and modeling method is put forward by this paper, which provides new direction of container terminal simulation model optimization and improvement.
