Cellular Automata provides a math model for the system of distributed parallel processing. It is very important in the new generation of computation structure designing. Cellular automata have more important application in pattern recognition,image processing and artificial intelligence. Cellular Automata has been recognized and applied since 1970. Cellular Automate is a useful model of molding and simulating. It is difficult to predict and analyze Cellular Automata,because it is a nonlinear dynamic system. It is very difficult to study Cellular Automata with mathematics. It must be studied with computer simulation. So,simulation of Cellular Automata has important role in this research field.This paper systematically introduces the researches and application environments of the models and theories for the Cellular Automata. This paper surveys its development at home and abroad. This paper also systematically introduces the research fields and applications of Artificial Life and some information of computer simulation. The paper indicates that most of researches based on Cellular Automata are one-dimensional Cellular Automata. In order to use Cellular Automata to simulate some complicated phenomena in the nature such as physics,chemistry,biology and so on. Cellular Automata on two-dimension will be of great value to the field of researches and applications. In this paper,we program two simulating programs. These programs are programmed with JAVA. These models of Cellular Automata are based on two-dimension. We make a vital model of Cellular Automata based on two-dimension. We make tests with this model and get some significant results. This simulating program proves Cellular Automata can simulate phenomena of life and life-like behavior. Finally,we use a two-dimensional Cellular Automata to simulate the traffic flow at the intersection and get a better effect and some inspirations. Thisshows more extensive applications of Cellular Automata.
