ABSTRACT:Time lens have wide applied prospect in the temporal imaging, optical communication, optical signal processing and other domain, and have been one of research hot spots in optical signal processing domain. Short pulses generation, optical pulses compression and temporal imaging are the important research issues using the time lens.Supporting by the National Natural Science Foundation "The application of optical Fourier transformation based on time lens in real-time measurement". the article research the theory and experiment of the temporal imaging system made up of time lens. The experiment using electro-optic phase modulation to perform optical pulses compression is demonstrated. On that basis, the simulation and research using electro-optic phase modulation, cross phase modulation and four-wave mixing to perform temporal imaging system is showed.The main jobs of this article include the following:1) The time lens is realized by using electro-optic phase modulation, and the experiment using temporal imaging system made up of time lens of performing optical pulses compression is demonstrated. The experiment result shows that the optical pulse is effectively compressed; and the merits, demerits and improvement methods of the time lens are analysed.2) The time lens based on cross phase modulation is simulated and researched. The construction, property and realizing difficulties of the temporal imaging system made up of this time lens are analysed. On that basis, a new method to realizing time lens by using high nonlinear fiber with certain amount of dispersion slope is proposed. And the effect to the system of the effect factors FWM, walk-off, dispersion and SPM are kept low.3) The time lens based on four-wave mixing is simulated and researched. The construction, property and realizing difficulties of the temporal imaging system made up of this time lens are analysed. And a new method to weakening self phase modulation and other four-wave mixing by using high nonlinear fiber with certain amount of dispersion is proposed. At the same time, the conversion efficiency increases largely and the requirement of dispersion of the high nonlinear fiber reduces, therefore the system is easier to be realized.The research result demonstrates that optical signals can be magnified, compressed and imaged by using time lens, and there are wide application values of time lens in temporal imaging, optical communication and optical signal processing domain.
