This paper researches a fusion algorithm of palmprint and palm vein, and based on this algorithm to design and realize a biometric certification system.The characteristics of the system are:1. This paper introduces a line feature extraction algorithm named the improved line feature extraction algorithm based on gray level difference. This paper uses the improved line feature extraction algorithm to extract the line features from palmprint and palm vein respectively, and fusion the line features in the end. Experimental results show the improved algorithm can extract line features from the palmprint image and the palm vein image well.2. Because this paper uses the same algorithm to extract line features, so the data format is same, it is easy to fusion at the feature level. The fusion method is adding line features at space domain. The experiment proves that fusion palmprint and palm vein could effectively improve the performance of the system.This paper implements a verification system base on the fusion algorithm includes three parts:the design of the collector, the frame of the system and the application of the system. The collector with two different lights can capture the palmprint image and the palm vein image. The verification system not only can register and certificate data, but also can store data classified. The application of the system is be able to store the feature data into smart card, could use for security, to ensure the security of information.
