The rail plays the most important and most basic part in the railway transportation system, which supports and guides the movements of the train. The quality and abrasion level of rail have a direct impact on the safety of the whole railway operations. Therefore, it is of momentous practical significance to study on dynamic detection method of rail surface abrasion to ensure the safety of railway traffic.In this paper we focus on source feedback and control technology included in the detection system for rail surface abrasion. We design a new method for the feedback signal extraction, present an optimum method for light adjusting, and improve the adjustability of detection system in environmental light. Compared with the original source feedback system, the improved system can not only increase the gear numbers, but also make the luminance of LED light source gradually change, while it has solved the problems existed in the original algorithm such as fewer gear numbers and stroboscopic LED light source.The work of this paper includes:1. In the analysis of rail surface abrasion on the basis of optical detection systems and according to the stroboscopic phenomenon of LED light source existed in original lighting source feedback and control system, we put forward a signal peak-detection method for lighting source and improve the light source feedback and control circuit, which can effectively acquire the peak signal of lighting source and lay a foundation for the control of light source.2. Design a new circuit and related algorithm in this source feedback and control system, and compile effective and feasible SCM program. By using single chip microcomputer STC12C2052AD, we realize stable automatic adjustment of lighting source intensity in detection system, avoid the phenomena of stroboscopic LED light source, and assure the source feedback and control system work efficiently in bad conditions such as excessive or insufficient light exposure, increase the adaptability of this detection system in outside ambient.
