The dynamic image acquisition and processing have became one of the most important application of embedded products, such as video capture systems on mobile phone, PC, video chat, digital cameras, video phones, and video surveillance systems for industrial control and security systems. However, limited by the embedded memory space and processing capability of embedded processor, the cameras'resolution for embedded products are low, and the data transmiting speed is slow.Therefore they cannot satisfy people's demands to capture high-pixel image.The S3C6410 processor, which is developed by Samsung Corporation, employs Quick Capture Interface technology. It will help to reduce the cost of systems and to improve the image quality by providing a Camera Interface for the video capture device such as cameras.The main task of the study is to realize the high quality and high-efficient-pixel camera driver which uses Quick Capture Interface. In embedded platforms, the development of high-pixel camera driver is restricted by the embedded processor's speed and system resources. In order to solve this problem, this study realized a 5 million CMOS camera driver by using Quick Capture Interface Technology and DirectShow Technology, based on the hardware platform S3C6410 embedded development board, and the software platform Microsoft Windows CE 6.0.In this paper, the relevant principles of video image capture system are introduced first. The hardware and software platform which this study is based on are described, and then the hardware and software realization of the camera driver system is given. A high-pixel camera driver system on the EZ6410 development platform is designed and implemented. Good stability and performance is achieved, Experiments show that resolution of the image captured by this camera is 2560 x 1920 and actual pixels is about 5 million. This driver can satisfies the requirement to obtain high-resolution images.This work focuses on the software design and implementation of the camera driver, increasing the number of pixels obtained by the camera, as well as improving the functionality and stability of the camera. Test data show that the solution for camera driver proposed in this paper can satisfy the previous objects of design:1)The capability to preview the images which are acquire by the camera; 2)The capability to snap static images and store the compressed image data;3)The capability to record a dynamic video file and store in memory.
