With the developments of Internet and modern communication technologies, humanity has entered the information era. People enjoy fast and convenient access to information, at the same time face a severe test of personal data security. How to ensure the security of data storage and transmission is a issue we must seriously consider when information technology is advanced.In nowdays, data encryption is an effective way to ensure the security of data. According to the different technologies, current data encryption technique can be divided into two categories:software encryption and hardware encryption. Software encryption technology is based on a specific operating system of personal computer, which encrypt the data by using Software program. This encryption technology, whose speed depends on the processing performance of personal computers, has the characteristics of easy application, low cost and using flexibly. However, due to the imperfection of the operating system and application software, this encryption technology has big problem on safety and reliability and is not suitable for encrypting critical information. Using independent system, hardware encryption technology has the characteristics of high csafety and reliability, which is the main research direction of encryption technology.Aiming at the lower integration of hardware encrypting card and the slower rate of the process, this paper proposes the design for the hardware encrypting card, which based on the embedded structure with soft core. According to the design idea, the writer chooses the MicroBlaze Soft core processor as the main controller and integrates the soft core processor, PCI Express communication controller and some logical control circuits to a FPGA chip, to greatly improved the integration of the hardware encrypting card. At the same time, the writer chooses high-speed encryption chip and PCI Express communication interface to improve the capability of data process and change, as well as the property of the whole encryption card. And finally the hardware encryption card design which based on the General-purpose computer platform has been completed.
