The embedded system has a rapid development, which is wildly used in many fields. It has also been adopted in medical electronic products. This paper designed a multifunctional fitness pedometer, which belonged to the scope of medical electronics and utilized the embedded system method for the design.The embedded systems can be divided into hardware design and software design. The hardware design is the foundation of embedded systems, and the software design is based on the correct hardware design.The design of hardware is composed of schematic design and PCB design. Before schematic design, the implementation scheme must be designed firstly according to the requirements of the system. In general, the overall block diagram of the system implementation can be designed by block method. This overall block diagram has the following components. Function selection module, the main control module, display module, MP3 audio playback module, receiver module and transmitter module. Advantage of this approach is to make the hardware design simpler. And at the same time this design method greatly reduces the probability of circuit design errors. After each module is determined, the components should be selected based on the requirements of the system. Finally, using electronic design automation tool Protel to design schematic.PCB design plays an important role in hardware design. In this paper, the general method of PCB design is described. Anti-interference measures have been used in PCB design, which have also been introduced in this system design. There are a few pieces of PCB, Main control module PCB, transmission control module PCB and wireless transceiver module PCB in this system.In software design, the main task is to transplant embedded real-time operating system and file system.There are many excellent embedded real-time operating systems in this world, Small RTOS51 which is one of the excellent operating systems has been selected because of its merits, real-time and small space occupied by RAM. Petit FatFs module is an open source software to implement FAT file system to small embedded systems.There is no platform dependence, so long as the compiler is in compliance with ANSI C. Petit FatFs which supports three Partition formats including FAT 12, FAT 16 and FAT32 is selected for its advantages, easy to transplant, free and small space occupied.The whole system had been debugged and tested based on the hardware design and software design, each part of this system works stability and the expected goal is achieved basically. Experimental results also show that the research in this paper is feasible and practical.
