With the development of wireless local area network (WLAN) communication technology, wireless multimedia communications systems of feature-rich become to a new hotspot. As the rapid development of embedded hardware technologies and convenience of human-computer interaction on people's needs, functional, easy to operate, simple and beautiful graphical user interface (GUI) is needed. This requires an in-depth understanding of embedded platform in voice communications, real-time video and graphical user interface.In this paper, designed and implemented a multimedia wireless communication system, which based on TI's DM6446 platform. First of all, combined features of embedded system and WLAN communication, analyzed the principle of embedded system, voice communication, network and GUI. Secondly, this paper designed and implemented the functions of each module of the system. GUI designed in QT programming language, realized the control of multimedia wireless communications system; voice communication module using audio for Linux programming technology, designed and implemented the control of sound equipment; video image display module using the video for Linux programming technology, video image and GUI are displayed in a specific location. GUI contains:file transfer page, which used to control the transmission of documents; voice communication page, which used to implement the control of the voice communication module; real-time video page, which used to control the process of real-time video communication; local file browser page used for browsing the local text, images and video files. Finally, transplanted GUI to DM6446 platform and realized the cultural of Chinese, and then completed the design of system.In this thesis, multimedia wireless communication system which based on DM6446 platform achieved the design specifications. Run the system and test results showed that: voice communication in good quality and delay performance meet the requirements; video images and GUI displayed in the window at the same time; GUI is easy to operate, simple and beautiful and functional.
