National Computer Rank Examination (NCRE) is a system to test examinees' knowledge and ability in the worldwide. The traditional method of registration is the examination management staff input the candidates'information and photographs into the management system by hand after taking photos for the candidates. Along with the larger number of candidates, the working amount of the traditional method of registration is becoming larger and the work will prone to error. In recent years, online registration systems for NCRE have been set up in many test centers,mostly based on the three-layer architecture, which are not perfect in function and performance.The present paper is on the project of online registration system for NCRE in the test center of Pingdingshan University. The paper analyses the general traits of the registration site in higher schools and the requirements of examinees and examination management staff, implements an online registration system for NCRE with seven functions,such as registration, information and statistic, score inquiry online,advisory online,score analysis and so on. The thesis designs the architecture of the system based on the shortcomings and deficiencies of three-layer architecture. The system uses four-layer Brower/Server (B/S) architecture, applies ASP.NET technology to develop, uses ADO.NET in database connection, and enhances the efficiency of visiting database through the connection pond. The system analyses the candidates'score by Decision Tree Method for candidates'registration guidance.Feature-rich,structure explicitness, high operating efficiency, data access efficiency, and easy expandedness in this system, which make the online registration easily available and lower the error rate, meanwhile providing the exactness and validity of information, and improving the service quality of the test center.The system still needs to be improved on more powerful security and better data integrity to improve the accuracy of data and compatibility. The further research directions are online payment and online photo collection, inorder to realize an automatic online registration system.
