| The modeling and simulating research of reality hair is now widely used for the computer cartoon, electronic game, movie and video execution, and so on. As the complexity in the physical properties of hair, the modeling and simulating research of human hair is considered as one of the most difficult task in the research of virtual person.In the paper, the existing modeling and simulating of hair was researched detailedly, and the following four aspects were included:Firstly, the head model data derived from Poser was read in DXF-format. Then the head mesh model was divided into hair growth region and non-growth region by key points method. The growth points and the initial growth direction of hair were determined from hair growth region. Secondly, the modeling and simulating of hair adopts the introduction of particle system. The particles were created using a tiered model. Two-dimensional model of the cantilever was extended to three-dimensional. After the state of the particles is changed by the improved model of cantilever, the hair is indicated by this new set of gravity influenced particles. Each particle was covered by texture mapping,and using billboard technology to enhance the visual effects. The particles which were covered by texture mapping will be more realistic whih the help of the blending technology of OpenGL. Thirdly, the helix model was introduced for modeling hair, the piecewise helix was adopted to simulate the different curly hair strand. This method is not only effective to different styles of curly hair, but also for the direct hair. Lastly, by using Visual C++6.0 as platform and combining the OpenGL technology, those two modeling methods were simulated by computer. The results demonstrate the proposed methods are feasible and effective. |
