The birth and development of the fiber optic communication bring an enormous revolution to the whole telecommunication fields. It makes the style of communications which is super large capacity and extremely high data rate from theory to reality. The fiber optic communication appears a prosperous status especially in recent years with the communications system reform deepens continuously and the communications market standardizes gradually. Reviewing the phylogeny of the fiber optic communication, each leap of the fiber optic communication is close to the breakthrough of the optoelectronic device.As the core optoelectronic device, SFP optical transceivers present novel characteristics in the rapid development of the fiber optic communication. Large capacity, intelligentize, miniaturization and integration become a new tendency of the SFP, and in this background emerges the DWDM SFP. Comparing to other SFP optical transceives, its most enormous characteristic is combining adequately both advantages of DWDM technique and SFP so it has strong market potential and is ascendant in the market competition.This paper is intended to research and develop an optical transceiver compliant with INF-8074i and DWDM SFP MSA with the data rate up to 4.25Gbps. The paper consists of three parts:The thesis first introduces the research background,development of domestic and international nowadays,characteristic of DWDM SFP optical transceives;and clarifies protocols and standards of it,especially analyses the mechanical configuration, electrical connection and digital diagnosis monitoring function.Firstly the background and significance of this research and the development of domestic and international are introduced in this paper. Then the protocols and standards of the DWDM SFP transceiver are analysed, especially the mechanical configuration, electrical interface and digital diagnostic monitoring function. In the second section the total design of the project and the design of the main hardware circuits are presented. The structure, operating principle, design process and total object of the optical transceiver are focused on in this section, and the APC circuit, laser temperature control circuit and APD high voltage circuit are also analysed.At the end of the article the results of the research are concluded and analysed, and the remained problems are also summarized. The direction and emphasis of the subsequent research are put forward finally.
