With the increasing development of Information Technology, the secure and reliable identification technology has become priority focus in a wide range of systems, with the more requirement to security level of safety system, the multilevel secure system is apppered. Biometrics is the future development direction of identification technology.Fingerprint recognition technology is superior to other biometric technology identification methods due to the fingerprint's uniqueness and invariance. Meanwhile, the fingerprint authentication has become one of the most popular personal identity authentication techniques. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) network has achieved full coverage of most areas of China, easy to implement secondary safety verification of security system based on short messaging service. This dissertation has completed some research on fingerprint identification system and the GSM short message communication and developed fingerprint identification grading permissions system based on ARM/GSM.In this paper, described the development direction, researched status of the fingerprint recognition at home and abroad, explained the necessity of this task. The global and details structural feature of human fingerprints is researched. The general principles and methods of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System are analyzed. The four key steps of fingerprint that fingerprint identification image acquisition, fingerprint image preprocessing, minutiae extraction and minutiae matching are analyzed and studied.The hardware of embedded biological identification grading permissions system based on ARM/GSM was designed. The detailed design of core-board, power supply, reset system, system clock, serial communication, USB&JTAG interface, the interface of FPS200 fingerprint module, GSM SMS module TC35 interface was given.The linux operating system was transplanted to the target platform of Samsung microprocessor S3C2440. This dissertation achieved the setup of cross-compilation environment,the transplantation of Bootloader and Linux Kernel, the transplantation of MiniGUI, in the Linux environment, device driver of fingerprint chip FPS200, the fingerprint image acquisition, preprocessing, feature matching and display and GSM short message communication programming.are compiled. The test results showed that the system has high accuracy of fingerprint identification and good real-time communications capabilities of short message.
