Fingerprint identification is an important biometric technique for personal identification, and it is also the maturest branch of biometric technique. As rapidly developing technology, fingerprint verification has been widely used in the field of criminal identification, and it also has the potention to be widely adopted in a broad range of civilian applications such as banking security. The combination of fingerprint verification and embedded systems makes this technique breakthough the time and space limitation, and be more suitable for many kinds of occasions.This dissertation has done some elementary research on embedded automated fingerprint identification system and finished the related development and also the initial stage of the full set of Fingerprint Identification System. Several aspects included in this dissertation are as follows:The fingerprint collection instruction based on the FPS200 fingerprint collection chip has been introduced, and also the processor Intel Samsung S3C2440 and the Windows CE operating system which have been utilized to constructed the whole system of fingerprint collection instruction.This dissertation introduces the research on the FPS200 fingerprint collection instruction and Windows CE system which is used in the embedded system. For the part of software, the procedure of fingerprint collection and Fingerprint and the application GUI programme have been designed. For the part of algorithm, the process such as the division, enhancement, binary, thin, features extraction and fake features reject of image have been used. The idea of the way of the process is discussed in detail, and the advantages and disadvantages of available algorithms for every steps of the process are analyzed. We selected the algorithm suitable for every step according to the acquirement of the embedded system, and we finished the related development according to the situation itself. At last, the thesis presents the the related test data of the system.
