Currently, most of the super-resolution direction-finding algorithms such as MUSIC are realized on DSP processor or high performance computer. However, because of their serial architecture, large numbers of DSP processors are needed in broadband and real-time signal processing systems. On the other side, FPGA adopts parallel architecture, resulting in greater capability of parallel processing than DSP. In order to realize the super-resolution DOA estimation fastly, a hardware platform consisted of FPGA and DSP is designed, on which task is assigned reasonably. Finally, the feasibility, performance and resource utilization of this architecture in broadband and real-time signal processing systems are evaluated in order to provide reference for some project. The main work can be summarized as follows:1,A hardware platform consisted of FPGA and DSP is designed and debugged. Firstly, the scheme of the hardware platform is designed according to the requirement. Secondly, design of the platform's modules is presented in detail. Then, a 10-layer printed circuit board is produced. Finally, the hardware platform is debugged, including FPGA and DSP debugging, optical fiber channel testing and PCI Express interface testing.2,Research on fast realization of MUSIC DOA estimation is studied. Firstly, the mathematic model of array signal processing and basic principles of spatial spectrum estimation are introduced. Then, the performance of MUSIC algorithm applied in HF is simulated and analysed detailedly. Secondly, the problem of quantification and calculation errors is analysed when an algorithm is realized on processors. Thirdly, based on the result of fixed-point simulation by MATLAB, the fixed-point structure of the algorithm is actualized step by step. Finally, a preliminary assessment of the amount of necessary hardware resources and performance is presented.3,Programming of MUSIC algorithm in FPGA and DSP is studied. Firstly, particular process of the algorithm and realization of DDC in FPGA are describled. Secondly, according to the process of the algorithm, programming and simulation in FPGA and DSP are carried out, including: programming and simulation of covariance matrix calculation, realizaiton of look-up table, direction vector computation and eigenvalue decomposing. Then result of the simulation verifies the design. Finally, resources utilization and performance are evaluated for the spatial spectrum direction-finding on the present platform.
