ABSTRACT:Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are emerging communication networks, which have extremely good and wide application prospect and need to be studied deeply. SimpliciTI protocol is designed for Small-Scale RF networks that are low-cost and easy to deploy. Sun's JXTA project is to provide an open, common, and interoperable P2P development platform. By using the existing communication networks, such as LAN or Wireless Mesh Networks, multiple WSNs can be interconnected in a P2P way, then the data publishing and sharing is realized, the coverage of WSNs is expanded, while it enable the network with decentralization, robustness scalability and so on.Based on SimpliciTI protocol and JXTA protocol, this paper is focused on the implementation and P2P interconnection of WSNs. This paper includes two main parts: the first part is the design and implementation of WSNs based on the SimpliciTI protocol; the second part is the design, implementation and testing of WSNs'P2P interconnection.In the design and implementation of WSNs, first of all, SimpliciTI protocol is analysised deeply, including its module components, stack architecture, device type and topology it support, protocol address, frame structure, API functions, hardware development environment supported, etc. Then the process of design and implementation of WSN is detailed, including the overall design of the whole system, the hardware selection and design of each function node, and software design of each node. Finally the realized WSN is deployed in the laboratory environment of the class building; meanwhile the establishment of WSN and the data transmission is tested.In the P2P interconnection design of WSNs, in the first place, JXTA protocol is thoroughly studied, including its three-layer structure, related concepts, the content of the protocol, and the network query process and so on. On this basis, the P2P interconnection of WSNs is designed and realized in detailed, including design concept, system structure, as well as the explicit process of the software design of WSN Gateway and WSN Control Unit. Then the P2P interconnection of WSNs is tested on the wired LAN of the laboratory building, mainly including functional functional test and delay performance testing of the applications.In the second place, the construction of P2P network on the Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) using JXTA platform is studied, and the P2P interconnection of WSNs is realized. In this section, on the basis of in-depth understanding of the concept, characteristics, network structure key technologies, and application scenarios of WMNs, the P2P-WSN system based on WMN is described in detail, including its design idea, system structure, and the hardware selection of WMN. Finally, the network system is tested in the laboratory building, and various performances are tested and compared. Test results show that the program design has got the expected operating results.
