The discipline of software engineering has been over sixty year's development In order to solve the problem of software crisis, many engineering models have been developed, from the earliest waterfall model, to spiral model, fountain model, and the latest and popular CMM/CMMI model, by software engineer with great effort. Although those modules worked, because of the vehement marketing competition, the growth of cost pressure, and the increase of the complexity of software itself, many organizations have to review the heavy software process they have adopted before, and start thinking the possibility and feasibility of adopting light weight software engineer models, e.g. agile methodology. This paper focuses on the SPI of a Hong Kong software development company with CMMI 5 certification, to analyze what and why problems are existed in the current software process base on the heavy SPI framework: such as outstanding formalism and low efficiency, but without quality promotion. So it is necessarily to introduce agile methodology for further improvement. By analyzing P Company's current situation of software process and existing problems, and studying the real case of P Company's adoption of agile methodology, and reference to many literature, this paper build the CSF assumption from the dimensions of culture, institution, technology, leader, product, market, customer. In order to verify the CSF, it also setup the success evaluation criteria, and develops and distributes questionnaire in the scope of internal P Company. After collecting the questionnaire result, it verifies its validity and reliability. At last it base on the verified result, compare with the P Company's reality, to discuss what points of the CSF assumptions are valuable to the implementation of agile method in P Company.
