The rapid development of network and computer technology is rapidly changing our traditional way of life, work and learning. The mature of multimedia information network technology such as integration of video, voice and data, as well as the growing popularity of Internet, which make long-distance teaching get an unprecedented means of a powerful technical support. The existing traditional teaching mode based on face to face classroom instruction is limited by the time space and many other factors. So it has not been able to meet the needs of the fast updating knowledge of modern information society and educational development. The e-learning can make a variety of teaching resources transmit to those who are thirst for knowledge among the crowd using a more vivid form through the Internet So it is necessary for man to build a "virtual school" vision to meet people's needs.The Answering System is very important in the progress of Distant Learning and Answering System. Through analyzing the status and considering the distant learning model, the advantages of the internet and compute technology are used in the Distant Learning and Answering System, the students can get the answers timely and effectively, and at the same time use the resources of the system again.The main work of this paper includes:1.Several important technologies which are involved in the answering system are researched and analyzed. Analyzed and compared the feasibility of the technologies in detail.2.It introduced the structure composition of the Answering System and basic functions. It also gave the realization method of Answer System. Used SQL Server 2000 as Database Server, JSP programs running on the Web Server, Accessed the database with JDBC.The users can use the Answering System through internet browser. It provided two ways of using the system. One is answering online the other is answering through the board.The first way is answering questions by the way of talking online. The second way provides one space for the teachers and students on net at the any moment the users can login the system for asking or answering. The system includes a user management module, the student sub-modules and teacher's subsystem modules. User Management module provides a user registration login and user management functions. The Distant Learning and Answering System is used by the teachers and students which have the questions. The function of the Distant Learning and Answering System includes question, answer, browse, query, management and discussion.
