With the rapid development of land-based RF wireless sensor networks and the increase of application demand for marine real-time monitoring, underwater wireless sensor networks has become one of the hot spots in the marine real-time monitoring, which is the development of land-based RF wireless sensor networks to the ocean field. Acoustic communication will also become a major method for underwater wireless sensor network communication. However, underwater acoustic channel is a very complex and harsh wireless channel,so the research of underwater acoustic communication faces enormous challenges.In the research progress of the 863 project "A Research on Key Technologies of Environmental Monitoring Platform in Far-reaching Sea based on Sensor Network", due to the high cost of equipment and devices for experiments and transportation, the cost for underwater acoustic communication experiments is a huge expenditure has to face.When data collection is made for oceanography and underwater acoustics, the situation is even more so.In the progress of underwater acoustic communication experiment, acknowledged the connection between experimental methods and computer simulation, we have designed and developed a hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for acoustic communication algorithm.Acoustic communication algorithm is mainly based on various channel models, which performance is evaluated through mathematical simulation system.These channel models only reflect the channel's limited features since the complexity of underwater acoustic channel.The channel model error caused deviation of the algorithm.In allusion to the problems and limitations that exist in system simulation and verification for the algorithm of underwater acoustic communication, this paper presents a more general hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for underwater acoustic communication algorithm, which is to provide a practical and effective research platform for underwater acoustic communications for research institutions and researchers.This paper on the design and development for hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform has completed such work as follow:A framework for hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform of underwater acoustic communication algorithm has been achieved, which has certain versatility, ease of use, flexibility and scalability. A common and convenient platform interface has been designed, so that acoustic communication algorithm can efficiently migrate to the simulation platform for system implementation. A technology for acoustic waveform data acquisition has been researched and PC-side software for simulation and play has been developed.A field-level wireless IAP technology for acoustic node systems has been designed, which is to meet convenient requirements for hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for acoustic communication algorithm.A WIFI technology for wireless download and data recycling has been researched, which has achieved high-speed and wireless data transmission in order to meet the speed and space requirements for hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for acoustic communication algorithm.
