Liquid storage districts are a widespread and important process in industry. Based on a structure for systematic expression of the state of a multi-component process, namely the concepts of stream and accumulator, a liquid storage district is firstly divided into assemble blocks for which rigorous models are built with principles. With the help of Simulink's graphical modeling interface and equation solver, a software platform, named as LSDSim, is developed for modeling and simulation of multi-component liquid storage district.In order to demonstrate the effectiveness and usefulness of LSDSim, simulators of a liquor storage district and an oil storage district were developed with the help of LSDSim.Additionally, another two contributions are included in this thesis: (1) a program is developed for interfacing Simulink programs and dynamic database. With this interfacing program, simulators developed with LSDSim can be easily used by other application programs. (2) A simulated manufacturing execution system (MES) for oil blending was developed by combining an optimization program with the oil storage district simulator stated above. In the simulated MES, users can calculated the optimal blending schemes according to customer's requirements and oil storage, and then conduct the blending operation.
