OTDM is short for Optical Time Division Multiplexing, the technology is used in laser communication. Laser communication is one of the principal means of future high-speed large-capacity communications. Countries around the world put a great deal of R&D funding on it. In the fiber laser communication, we have a more mature technology. But we should do much research work in wireless laser communication.In this paper, we researched the key technologies used for 10GbpsOTDM and introduced the products that can be used in it. The key technologies include narrow pulse laser source, time division multiplexing, time delay and modulation. We introduced distributed feedback(DFB) laser and mode locked laser diode(MLLD) as the laser sources. We used fiber delay line and fiber coupler for the multiplexer. In the last chapter we used optical communications simulation software Optisystem to simulate the design. And we got a good result.
