The emergence of Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) is results of very large scale integration (VLSI) technology and computer-aided design (CAD) technology development. FPGA devices with programmable functions which are small size and high integration can achieve specific application. The user can achieve their desired results through design entry, simulation, testing and verification at computer development platform.In recent years, FPGA devices are widely used in the area of information processing, automation, telecommunications and many other areas so that FPGA develop very rapidly. Not only more and more electronic design staff use FPGA, but also more and more college students learn and master FPGA design techniques. The FPGA with short development cycle, flexible programming, high reliability are very suitable for applications in the laboratory. The purpose of this thesis is to design a practical and systematic experimental teaching equipment.This paper systematically introduces the basic theories, design methods and techniques of FPGA. The paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter introduces the development history of FPGA and describes the basic principles, features and functions of FPGA. The second chapter describes the design and production method of the smallest system. The third chapter describes the design and production of FPGA development board and the peripheral circuit. The fourth chapter describes the design and verification of FPGA development board. The fifth chapter analysis and describes the FPGA development trends.The purpose of this paper is to design a practical and low cost FPGA development system which is used in university laboratory comfortably. Beginner will has a more comprehensive understanding about the usage and development of FPGA within a short time through the system. Based on the design and research of peripheral devices and smallest system, the cost of FPGA development system has greatly reduced.
