The traditional way to keep the project information needs large amount of paper. You need to fill out various forms and keep them in an appropriate place. It is inconvenient to look up information and preserve. It is also possible that those papers might get lost by accidents, which may incur serious loss for a company. Thus an automated and intelligent system is in urgent need. The office automation (OA) system is a new office system that combines modern office work and information technology. It is actually the product of the information age. The OA system connects the computers with other office equipments within a company, so that more modernized means could be provided for clerks and working efficiency be improved. It is also helpful to provide information for relevant department and officials.OA, short for Office Automation, is a quite broad concept and have a long history. Both the office equipment producers and system integrators devote in R&D and promotion of office automation equipments. The whole system includes creating, modifying, distributing, saving, deleting, filing and etc. As the development of scientific technology and the advance of internet technology, the construction of office automation system has made rapid progress as well.OA springs from government office system. The preliminary purpose is mainly to receive and send government documents. Now the core content is to improve working efficiency, capability, and information collection, hence the overall management level. Generally speaking, OA is a system of processing and managing all the information of a company except for manufacturing information. It has different function to different users of many levels. OA system does not exist alone, but connected closely with many other managing systems of a company, such as the e-government, e-commerce, CRM, ERP and financial systems.The current OA system and large-scaled system, business process restructuring or document circulation is the core function. In the mean time, all the office work could be abstracted as a database worksheet. The core theory is that in the initial period for installing systems doesn't involve the business process restructuring of an enterprise, will only help a company to automate its office work, and improve it constantly based on real needs.As the strong growth of web technology, B/S mode has started to show its advantage over the C/S mode. This mode could unify the clients, concentrate the core functions of servers and make the development, use and maintenance simplified. The biggest advantage of this mode is to operate without any professional software no matter where the place is. Only a computer which can access the internet is necessary, no need for client maintenance. To extend the system is quite simple, first you access the internet, and then get an account number and a password from the administrator, after that you can started to use it. In addition, the maintenance and upgrading for B/S software is quite simple, too. Currently, the upgrading and improving for software system is becoming quite frequent, the product of B/S is actually more convenient. How can people improve their efficiency if they have to move among hundreds of computers? Only one operating server with one browser in front of each client end will be needed if you use the B/S software, without any maintenance. JSP is a technology based on B/S mode and developed under the rapid growth of web technology.This Office Automation system is to use JSP technology based on B/S mode and combine Tomcat server and Sql Server database, in order to install a secure, reliable and efficient automated and electronic system.The system designed and discussed in this paper will process all the data and information,including some basic information, project schedule, security measures, etc. It will complete the functions like data input, inquiry, display, printing and so on, to finally make"paperless office" come true , information communication more quickly and convenient, extend office tools and improve working efficiency. The system will be used by managers for their daily work and a log in access will be set up. Only managers can log into the system. The system can by divided by 3 main parts: the first part is the function for looking up data and relevant information, the second part is to provide various forms and sheets for supervision including data input, inquiry, display and printing ( forms and sheets need to be made according to the requirement of relevant company), the third part is the function of upload and download to make it more convenient for managers to check in the future.This paper firstly analyzed the demand and technology of this system in depth, including the introduction of JSP technology, relevant concepts of OA, the meaning of B/S mode, and the relevant technology of Tomcat server and Sql Server database combination development. The paper emphasized an analysis on the environment needed to develop the system, on the requirement of different modules within the system and of analyzing the functions of the system based on case module. In the meantime, this thesis also discussed the requirement for non-functional aspect and descried the professional terms of the system. In addition, the work has made an overall design for the system, talked about the principles for system design, and introduced the ways to design modules and arrangements for systematic source document, It has made specific description on the modules of the system and detailed analysis of concrete procedures, then designed the system, ran tests and evaluated its function and quality. At the last part, the paper also identified shortcomings of the system, and pointed out the working direction in the next step.
