In recent years, the hospital information system (HIS) fast developmented.A certain scale of HIS were constructed in a lot of hospitals. The Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) is centered on patient information, and is an important part of the Hospital Information System (HIS).The thesis analyzes the development of computerized patient records, describes in detail the concept and content of computerized patient records, gives insight into the 7 concepts in English of computerized patient records, and discusses the relationship between CPRS and HIS. Then, the thesis analyzes the advantages of XML technologies, introduces briefly the XML Schema, CSS. XSL and other key technologies that are required in the system development, and discusses HL7/CDA standards that currently prevail in the medical information field. Finally, focusing on the problems existing in the domestic studies of computerized patient records, and based on the survey on hospital demands and the clinic documentation structure of medical industry in accordance with CDA standards, the thesis gives a detailed design regarding the input, display, storage, query and other parts of patient records data. The system achieves the XML-based CPRS mainly from six areas namely system storage structure design, intelligent input module design, maintenance module design, query module design, display module design and user management design, and the thesis provides the detailed designs and critical data structures of the various functional modules. In the system, the tree logical structure is used to describe the content of computerized patient records; XML-based intelligent input module is designed. incorporating XML technical features into the system and achieving the combined input method of both free text input and form input;and XML documents storage in Oracle database is achieved, transforming XML documents into relational database and well achieving the XML query and display. In addition, the confidentiality of patient record data is analyzed, which lays a foundation for the practical clinical application.
