H.264/AVC is a new standard of international video coding that developed by ITU-T VCEG and ISO/IEC MPEG..The new standard of generation video code is more efficiency and friendly, so, it's widely acclaimed by people. H.264/AVC includs the latest scientific and technological achievements in the field of video encoding and decoding in recent years. The new technologies include:the prediction of intra of multi-mode in space, the motion estimation of 1/4 pixel accuracy, the quantization of transform in integer DCT, the motion compensation of multiple reference frames, the filtering of adaptive deblocking, the entropy coding of content-based in CABAC.H.264/AVC uses a new generation standard of video coding that using the techniques of motion estimation in variable block and optimization of rate-distortion. It delimits seven kinds of different sizes of macro block mode for inter-frame, it needs to traverse every multi-code mode, choosing the least costly model of coding as the best mode of coding, which makes the computational complexity. Therefore, the study of the select algorithm for predictive mode of fast inter-frame in H.264/AVC has a very important and positive significance.This paper proposes an select algorithm for the mode of fast inter-frame, which is essentially used. The frame detects an area of stable in time-domain,and it also used operator of Sobel on the calculation of the information on the edge of local image in the airspace respectively, to detect the uniformity or activity area of the airspace in a small region of the image mode coding. The regional macro block used to determine the ahead of schedule has simplied process of the selection of model greatly. Did simulat experiments were carried out and compared before and after the quality of optimization of visual image, the time of encoding. PSNR and the changing of ratio of signal to noise in the JM8.6 reference software. The experiment shows that the introduction of new options in the quality of video image has unchanged basically and the time of encoder coding has dropped. It has reduced the complexity of operations greatly and has improved the efficiency of coding of video compression.
