Nd: YAG solid-state laser is taken as the object of study in this paper, and thepump source is continuous output LD. Proceed from rate equation theory ofend -pumped state, the method to realize the highest conversion efficiency underthe requested beam quality is studied .Based on the analysis on the rate equation theory, the model of oscillation andgain process of the oscillation light is established, and the process of oscillationand gain of the oscillation light is simulated by computer. The relation betweenpump light and the output capacity of DPL is shown. The temperature profilemodel in Nd:YAG crystal is established, and the phase modulation on theoscillation light by the temperature profile is studied, and the process ofoscillation and gain of the oscillation light under phase modulation is simulated.the relevant between pump light and the output capacity of DPL is shown. Underthe action of multi factors of gain distributio n and thermal effect, the change ofbeam quality and conversion efficiency is studied.In the process of simulation, Gaussian Beam and second-order FlattenedGaussian Beam are chosen as the pump source. With the pumping power,pumping radius and cavity profile changing, the spatial intensity distribution ofpump light are obtained, the beam quality factor M^2 and conversion efficiency iscalculated.The calculated result has certain referential value for reasonable design of highconversion efficiency DPL.
