Beginning with the solution for an engineering practice project, the specific techniques and relevant theories for developing and optimizing 3D programs on embedded system based on ARM9 are discussed in the paper. Firstly, concepts and features of the embedded system are introduced, and the problems and actuality that 3D programming development on embedded system faced nowadays are discussed.Then the necessary preparation, which must be finished before developing 3D programs, is discussed in detail in the way of hardware and software environment. At the point of hardware, the features and capacity of ARM9 and S3C2410 (a chip based on ARM9 architecture) are introduced, which is the hardware foundation of the whole project. To the software environment, the paper discussed the process and concepts about building Linux operating system on the platform introduced before, which is the software foundation and important parts of the project.Finally, a solution for developing and optimizing 3D programs, which is built on the new platform, is proposed. And the experiment is conducted, passing all the tests.At present, the improvement scheme has been realized successfully on the local hardware platform.
