Recently, with the development of computer technology and the acceleration of computing speed, numerical analysis has obtained more and more importance in engineering design and analysis, which becomes an effective approach to solve complex problems. However, mesh partition is an important precondition for solving engineering numerical problems .Triangles or quadrangles being obtained after disposing the surface information of an entity, makes mesh partition easily and conveniently realized.This thesis focuses on surface information extraction of an entity from the SAT file generated by commercial CAD software, and mesh pre-partition on the surface, which was specifically described as follows:Firstly, extract the surface information of vehicle model from the ACIS format—being generated by commercial CAD software, build the data structure which can describe the surface information of the entity, output the surface information in a MOD file, which is used as the input file of the following section.Secondly, read the above output file, judge every shape of the surface, and then based on the pre-set quality factor, with articulated triangles and quadrangles as the splitting result, pre-partition algorithms on polygons with inner ring, concave polygons and convex polygons are obtained and implemented. They're practicable and meet the requirements of the EMC analysis software, which are indicated by examples.
