With the development of computer graphics and multimedia technology,three-dimensional geometric model has gained widespread attention.Specially,polygon mesh has been widely used in various areas by virtue of its high verisimilitude and convenient interactivity.At the same time,the requirements of user experience are also growing,and how to ensure the user experience of polygon mesh model in a variety of applications has become a hot topic.The effective analysis of visual experience of polygon mesh model is important to optimize processing algorithm or the display performance of devices.In this thesis,according to the characteristics of the polygon mesh model and the difference of the application scenarios,a full-reference mesh quality assessment method is proposed;Moreover,based on the user's subjective experience,a comprehensive analysis of visual experience of polygon mesh in virtual reality is proposed.The major contributions of this thesis are summarized as follows:1.To accurately measure the impact of multiple processing approaches on the visual experience of the polygon mesh model,a quality assessment method of polygon mesh based on height field analysis is proposed in this thesis.Generally,human is more sensitive to the model surface undulating,and this visual characteristic can be reflected by the height field.Therefore,this paper uses the height field to measure the geometric distortion of the mesh model,and analyzes the structure similarity between the original model and the distortion model from three aspects,namely,structure,height field mean value and contrast,according to the idea of image quality assessment algorithm SSIM.The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately evaluate the quality of 3D mesh model with different types of distortion.2.In recent years,virtual reality is the focus of multimedia and computer graphics.Polygon mesh model,as the key elements of the next generation content of virtual reality,has received widespread attention.In order to comprehensively analyze the visual experience of polygon mesh in virtual reality,the subjective experience is obtained through a questionnaire,where the question items are designed from three perspectives,namely,display property,observation manner and user perception.The Wilcoxon signed ranks test is employed to compare the visual experience on two devices,and then the possible reason for the discrepancy of observation experiences is analyzed.The analysis results may provide a reasonable suggestion for improve the mesh quality or the display performance of devices.
