With the rapid development of modern wireless electronic technology, the millimeter-wave phased array antenna is found more and more in future military equipments and civil products with its advantages of smaller volume, lighter weight, higher accuracy, quicker reaction, lower power wastage, broader coverage and others. In the design of millimeter-wave phased array antenna, the design of antenna elements and the research of antenna's directionality is one of the key technologies. This thesis presents one phased array antenna model based on the demands of high-frequency, high-gain, multi-beam width and multi-state scanning. The phased array antenna has features of high-frequency, high-gain, wide-scanning scope. The thesis mainly contains the following several parts:(1) To meet the high-frequency, circularly polarized and wideband requirements for the antenna, a square patch microstrip antenna with two truncated corners and a circular microstrip antenna with two slots are designed as the radiation elements of the millimeter-wave phased array. Comparing the performance the two elements in the phased array, the final element is confirmed, which is the square patch microstrip antenna.(2) Based on no influence on technical aim, the mutual coupling effect of elements is decreased by changing the distance of the elements. After the distance of the elements is determined, the analysis on the influence caused by the mutual coupling effects is finished. It turns out that the mutual coupling effect of elements can be ignored when the distance of the elements is something for this phased array antenna model.(3) The arrangement of the phased array is determined with 16×16 elements square plane array. The fed levels are set as Dolf-Chebykshev and Taylor distribution respectively with the results of multi-beam width and wide- scanning scope.Its gain is high and side-lobe's level is lower than -20dB.
